Learning through arts activities - in school, out of school, during school holidays and within the community – is very important to all of the BEST schools. Many of our primary schools have been awarded Arts Mark, and both Rawlins Community College and Humphrey Perkins High School are specialist Arts Colleges. We work together as a group of schools to develop opportunities: read on for a flavour of some of the arts activities we offer to our pupils, students and the wider community.
Hayley Fern, Community Arts Development worker at Rawlins Community College, runs art projects in all of the BEST schools. Each project runs for approximately 20 hours and she plans the time carefully with key staff to coincide with curriculum work or Arts Mark. Hayley says, “Every project so far has been completely different with so many new challenges! The one thing they all have in common is that we have had a lot of fun!”
