Beginners’ Orchestra
The beginners’ orchestra is for children who would like to start learning an instrument, have just started a musical instrument or are interested in learning more about music. We learn a lot of our music through playing games and singing.
Intermediate Orchestra
The intermediate orchestra is for children who have already acquired some skills on their instrument. In this group we learn through improvisation, singing and rhythm games. The orchestra tackles a range of different styles of music, both through reading music and by ear.
Advanced Orchestra
In September 2010 we are starting an advanced orchestra. This will be for more accomplished musicians who are confident at reading music, improvisation and solos. The orchestra will play various different styles of music and will play a key role in supporting the other orchestras in performances.
Singing Sessions
Singing sessions are open to children age 4+ who are interested singing. There will be opportunity to sing songs catering for all age groups and abilities.
Instrumental Lessons
We are very pleased that demand for instrumental lessons is continuing to rise. Musicians normally take part in one or more group activity, slipping out for their lessons at the appropriate time. We offer lessons in flute, oboe, clarinet, trumpet, cornet, horn, violin, cello, guitar, piano and drums. Group lessons (3 pupils maximum) will cost £4.50 per week; the length of a group lesson will vary according to how many pupils are in a group. Individual 20 minute lessons will cost £8. In most cases it will be possible to hire an instrument at a very reasonable cost. All costs for instrumental lessons will be invoiced per term.
For the Parents and Carers
Parents and carers are welcome to stay in the foyer during the session. Refreshments are available throughout the session. Your child will also have an opportunity for a snack either before the groups start or during a short break.
